In today’s world, we often associate leadership with long hours, big decisions, and carrying the weight of responsibility. But as this RAK 2025 story reminds us, real leadership starts with heart.
This moment comes from FM Talent’s very own President & CEO, Dawn Hendricks, whose simple but powerful act of kindness turned an ordinary day into something extraordinary, for her and for someone else.
On her way to a routine shopping trip for an upcoming dinner party, Dawn pulled up to a red light. Like many of us, her mind was buzzing, thinking about business, growth, and all the pieces that must move to keep things running strong.
That’s when she noticed him.
A man on the corner, holding a cup, asking for help.
He wasn’t just asking for money, he was asking for a way to get home. To be with his family for Father’s Day. He shared his story in the span of a red light, and in those few moments, something shifted.
“I was touched by his sincerity, and I detected a sense of authenticity as he was speaking with me. I felt his sadness.”
Moved by the moment and fully present in it, Dawn reached into her purse. As the light turned green, she handed him a $20 bill and wished him a wonderful Father’s Day.
“He shouted aloud, ‘Thank God!’”
“And I knew I made his day, and at the same time, I made mine.”
Why It Matters
This act wasn’t scheduled. It wasn’t strategized. It was random. Pure. And absolutely perfect. In that split second, a life was touched, and a family was reunited.
That’s what Random Acts of Kindness are all about. Not just doing good, but feeling it. Letting it stir something deep in you. Allowing that one moment to ripple outward and change the course of someone else’s day, or even their future.
