As part of FM Talent's Random Acts of Kindness 2026 Campaign, Gay Thompson chose to do something a little different.
Rather than sharing a kindness she performed, she wanted to recognize someone whose kindness has made a lasting difference in her own life.
It's a beautiful reminder that kindness deserves to be celebrated, whether we're the one giving it or the one receiving it.
More Than Just Great Customer Service
Like many grandparents, Gay enjoys shopping for bargains and little surprises for her grandchildren.
Over time, one employee at her favorite department store began to recognize her.
What started as a friendly interaction gradually became something much more personal.
Every visit was met with genuine enthusiasm.
"What are you buying for your grandkids now?"
If it had been a while since Gay's last visit, the young woman would greet her with a smile and say:
"There she is! What are you getting the babies today?"
Those words may seem simple.
But they meant something.

That's exactly what this employee has done for Gay.
